Hello, and Welcome!

I am Rita Hughes, a dedicated licensed therapist committed to guiding my clients toward stronger emotional intelligence, healthier communication patterns, and a greater capacity for meaningful connections—whether in romantic relationships, friendships, family dynamics, or workplace interactions. My approach is rooted in deep empathy, and a nuanced understanding of the complexities of the human experience.

I earned a Master of Arts from New York University’s John W. Draper Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Humanities and Social Thought, as well as a Master of Social Work from the University of Central Florida’s Graduate School of Health and Sciences. I am currently a licensed therapist in Pennsylvania and actively working toward licensure in North Carolina. With over a decade of diverse professional experience, I bring an informed and integrative perspective to my clinical work.

Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with young adults navigating pivotal life transitions, and adults who are seeking to process trauma, overcome anxiety, identify thought, emotional and behavioral patterns, and enhance interpersonal communication in relationships. My expertise includes trauma-informed and culturally-competent care, psychoeducation and psychodynamic therapy designed to foster lasting personal and professional fulfillment.

If you are looking to gain deeper emotional awareness, recognize behavioral patterns, improve your communication skills, process past experiences at your own pace or enhance the quality of your relationships, I may be the right therapist for you!
